Kryptview A850HD frozen on Booting, box unuseable

My friend has a Kryptview A850HD box, he recently tried to upgrade the firmware but has run into a problem. When he turns on his box it just says booting and it stays like that for hours, even when he turns the box off for more than 10 minutes and then back on again, with or without the USB containing the upgrade firmware, he always gets the message Booting. He cannot get into the menu to make changes or anything, all he gets is the message Booting, the box seems to be locked on this. I thought that perhaps his 'new' firmware on his usb stick had been corrupted so I downloaded the latest firmware image file, put it on a usb stick and tried that but it makes no difference, he cannot access the main menu, he just gets Booting. Is there anything he could try to re-set his machine so that he can at least get the Menu coming back up or an explanation of what the problem is. Appreciate any help on this matter. TIA.

bummer was the image file extracted first before putting on a formatted usb stick and box was powered off/unplugged and usb inserted into front under flap, you may have corrupted is it the bootloader? others got this by not following correct setup.

Dear Cactikid, my friend lives some distance away and so I have not seen the actual fault but he assures me that all he gets when he powers on the box is a flashing message saying Boot or booting and the box does not power down, the message stays there permanently and he cannot access the main menu. I set up his box for him initially a year or so ago and it has been running OK until a week or so when he lost most of the channels on his box. Someone gave him a usb stick with updated instructions on it that were supposed to give him his channels back, my friend is a numpty (someone who knows nothing) about the correct set-up procedure and I was not there when he tried it so its quite possible that he did not follow the correct procedure. Problem is where can I get him a new bootloader and how do I install it. TIA
