a780 nightmare

hi guys,

am no stranger to cable boxes but this has got me puzzled-got a 780hd box-won't update over internet, or by usb-got my old trusty null modem cable out-got loader and newest fw-and still nothing-box connecting but saying doanload not requested-getting a migraine now with it !

and before anyone says the "noob" word-I've been at it since sv1 and pace/samsung days-so I have actually got a clue what am doing-just this one box is giving me nightmares !

well you sound like a noob as there is no 780hd I assume you are talking about 780 sd it could be your driver for usb to serial adaptor ,if it wont update via lan its because you have too old sw in box and have not updated for a year classic noob mistake ,if you cant get it to work with your usb adaptor I would suggest box to box transfer with null modem from a m8s box but this would not have happened if you had done regular lan updates

Is your box an A780 or A850?

There isn't an A780HD box.

ok noob sounds like first firmware for the 850 box as usb is only way of flashing it,and the file in downloads might not work as you may need older files put on first

ok my mistake-it's an 850-so shoot me still can't update the s.o.b whichever way I try-and it's getting annoying now !

You say that you are using your old trusty null modem cable, so I assume that you have used it in the past to flash boxes.

What about the pc you are using? Is that the same one as used in the past?

It sounds like a connection problem. Wrong cable type, wrong com port selected, dodgy USB to serial adapter etc.

edit...just realised. Although the 850 has a serial port, is the software available to flash it this way, or does it have to be done using the USB port?

if people are not prepaired to read how to flash box they will end up with an expensive brick,correct identification of unit and files as its not one file for all,the old kv 750 and 780 are flashed by loader and null modem cable.
the 850 is the new generation box and is flashed by a formatted usb stick and firmware inserted into front slot when box is powered off at rear.
there is no loader for using the null modem cable route for the public.
