    Previous A750 user, what now?

    Hey folks,

I new in this area an posting so apolgies ,

I was using a Kryptview A750 for sumtime before the they went off a few years ago. I simply put the box in storage and continued with other means.

I would like to get a new box, and how simple is the set up process,
    Thanks for any help

Hi mate, I've asked the same question last week (but no response from forum yet) so I've done some research myself and thought I'd share it with you.
The kryptview A780 is still running well, but I'm not, and my advisors are not sure if it's likely to 'go off' but then again we rarely get to know these things until it's happened anyway.
The other is the A850 (branded Pheonix/Kryptview) which is a HD box. This has in theory replaced the A780 but looking on the forums does have a few glitches.
Incidentally, my A750 only went off about 6-8 weeks ago. Had you updated your box with the up to date firmware?
I wouldn't go for a Starview as you will have to pay a server subscription, and the payment leads a path to your door.
im hoping for some more info off this forum, so let's see.
    The Viking

      Hi viking,
Thanks for reply, as i mentioned i an a novice in this area.
I got my A750 off a friend, who would update it when needed.
After the big change a few years ago when there was a mass of boxes going offline i was told that it was over and they couldnt be used anymore.
It was recently i heard of ppl saying there were working boxes again,

The A750 could still be used, provided you had an iConnector attached. This was an add-on box that enabled a connection to the internet.

They worked fine...until support was stopped a few months ago!

and would you get 5 0r 6 channels working or so on the fta side and is it worth it,750 a good box but they have moved their support to the 780 and 850,the 750 has been working since n3,you maybe thinking of starview
not much point in updating firmware in the 750 to do what?780 needs upto date firmware.

            Hello Cactikid,
your obviously a guy with vast knowledge in this field-apologies for my sharpness in a previous post with you :-(
what is the chances of the A780 going off anytime soon? I've just been offered a cheap Dreambox 500c. Is this another option for cable tv? Was considering an A850 too......

no worries i dont take offence ,as with any box sat or cable it lasts till its stopped, ask yourself how many years did the 750 run even before n3 6 or more years? if kv shut the 780 down tomorrow the backlash would murder them, people want a choice sd or hd and they can choose, but not forced into it.
the dm500c will be a clone and will be the same idea as sat needing a card server, very hard to find and a taboo subject on the forum.
if you have a big hd tv would you still use an old system on it like the 780,i like programs in hd.

                Thanx Cactikid,
Sadly I am using a 780 on a 50" HD TV, but using an up scaler box to convert from start to HDMI. Not brilliant, but acceptable.
Ill consider the DBox, it's 25 quid, but will avoid if it's going to be trouble. Thanx again

Donny u have all info u needed really already sussed, I'd forget 500c if u really want this box u may have to go to another forum to pay a sub, where as kv 780 SD or the kv 850HD once bought is free, if u like ur HD then I'd advise 850 HD.
