    are you on correct net id? does your box and router need powering off for 30 secs then on?

      sorry im really not technical so when you say correct net id what does that mean where do I find that please and I have switched box, internet, router etc of for 2 hours and left them of but still not come back on

        you need to get that information off a providers box,guessing at net id may not work

          when you say providers box do you mean outside the house ? ive been and got a number which is on there but not sure if that's what you mean or if you mean something internally, sorry im thick

            no a vm cable box or tivo.
            Press the home button on your VM remote control.
            Go to settings.
            Then technical stuff.
            Your net id is the first item on the list.

              after a long winded attempt at not being able to find the lead then the vm box not coming on because its not been used for a while I have located the id and scanned to the correct one and its still displaying scrambled no video

                    defiantly sound like a network connection fail, try plugging the Ethernet cable straight from your router/modem straight into the back of your box

                      ive tried that and guess what it works whoooo so its definitely the home plugs, I did try new home plugs but only changed one so they probably wasn't compatible, thank you very much for your help astro 77 and catcikidd for all your advice along the way xx
