Was gonna buy 1 of these boxes I was reading up and seen a post some were thst u need a mod done to the box ?? What does it do ? I need some help as im looking on gettin a cable box whts the nest cable box f0r hd Thanks 4 looking any help appreciated.

early boxes needed the mod done ,they found the fault and repaired at source so new box is ready to go.
other cable box is phantom hd. -
Just confirm what type of receiver you actually require as the A850 is a Full HD cale receiver which will allow you to view the HD channels, The Phantom HD receiver is an SD receiver with HDMI output so will not give you the HD channels.
Personally for the price of the Phantom HD you could get something like a DM800se with Cable tuner which is Full HD but you do not get the added extra special so to speak that you get with the Phantom or the A850

the phantom hd receiver is sd with hdmi output,so no eastenders in hd??thats odd will need to recheck that one,yes noticed that dm800se cropping up more and more.

So whats the added extrs special im lost ? Basically. I want a reciever I can recieve every chan of virminn including hd n if possible to record at a resonable price around 200 I want to spend I no very little about these boxes as u may no .. also where do I buy from thanks 4 help and info u giveComment

The Added extra/Special is something we cannot go into here on the forum due to the Rules, your original question regarding the A850 is the Mod has already been done on the later models that affected the earlier revision

well the kv hd is 250,so its phantom hd and yes it shows hd on caption on screen,think what digicon meant was looks the same but swapped the scart to a hdmi port.or other cable boxes and what models,this was posted elsewhere.

To be honest i personally would not entertain one of these receivers, Money is better spent on something like a DM800se with Cable Tuner and source everything else 3rd party.
Just by going of the posts on here with the KV and the amount of problems they have with the so called service smacks of the Skybox F3/F5 on the satellite side.
I used to have an old Eurovox HD receiver way back when and hated that as well :-)
