    A850 HD picture issues

    Hi All,
About 6 months or so ago I bought a A850 HD to replace my A780. I won't bore you as to why but I got around to finally setting it up yesterday (all the channels were working on the 780)

The issue I have is the channels that are working in SD and HD get a black screen for a second, the time between the black screen appearing varies between channels. On some channels the black screen appears every few seconds and on others it could be every 30 secs to 2 mins.

I believe I have one of the later boxes and is on SW 1.02.06. Using HD output, tried a couple of different HDMI cables,I have set the output to 720p as I thought maybe 1080 was causing the issue - a shot it the dark really.

I have tried googling and reading through some posts but can't seem to find a solution.

Has any one come across the same symtoms and figured out a fix? or if anyone with greater knowledge than me have any pointers I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

The latest software version is SV 1.02.07 dated May 26 2014 so you seem to be on an old version. Internet upgrade and see if that helps.

Do you get the problem on FTA channels (BBC1, ITV etc)? If so it's probably a problem at your end ie signal, dodgy box/tuner/splitter/cables etc. If not it's probably a problem at the vermin or KV end.

Now isn't the best time to be troubleshooting tbh as the channels are on and off every 5 mins for everyone. Seems to be pretty bad server issues.

        Thanks for the info.

I presume I update the software through the box itself as opposed to physically downloading onto a USB?

          Yeah

          Menu
          Info/upgrade
          internet upgrade

If that doesn't work for any reason you can do it with a USB. There are sticky guides available.

Hi, update - I have updated the box to 1.02.07 now, which was quite sraight forward in fairness. Although now I have a different issue, my network id (40979, Kingston) seems to have dissapeared from the list, most other areas are still listed bar mine, starnge thing is it was on the list prior to the update.

            Any ideas?

            Many Thanks

I just plugged my old A780 back on to see if that worked and that works fine, it's also got all the missing channels that the A850 didn't pick up.

At least I know the signal is present and correct. Which brings me back to square one really. Where's my network id gone? Strange.

I've tried googling, other forums and posts etc but not coming up with anything conclusive.

Any guide to a solution will be very appreciated.

have you got a virgin media box as you need to get the default setting off that to input into a manual scan?or did you get box working again ,wrong provider maybe?

What I did with the 850 was chose a network id that was closest to mine. Which sort of worked on that it managed to pick up most of the channels but not the ones my wife watches the most (:-). You can imagine the hardship I'm going through!

I do have the original vm box.... somewhere, it's at least 3 years old, probably more.

Just a thought, would I be able to get the required info from the A780? As that works fine, if so any idea where would I find it?

no go find a local friend and try and get the info off that so you can use it on the 850,did you try scanning another provider?

I'm having same problem only "Watford" has disappeared and I can't scan from there anymore. I tuned into the next closest but picture is driving me mad with the glitching.
