Kryptview updating box - channels dead -

Hey all!

I've revived my box from the dead, had it collecting dust for the past 2 years and it's got old software on it, decided to update s/w and it just freezes on 'searching for new firmware' having read a few threads people have advised to update via cable? one problem, i don't have the cable but should be able to get it within the week.

Is the firmware update not available via directly through the box? I remember being able to update my box by going into the settings and the box would do the rest of the magic.

I've done a channel re-scan and all the channels have re appeared, they're just not working apart from the basic free channels so i suppose it could be s/w issue since my current firmware is from 2013.

so my question: is there any way i can update the s/w just directly through the box without the cable?

old firmware maybe not supported and needs updated firmware from downloads,loader there also.needs null modem hook up from box to pc.

yeah if its very old s/w it will need a null modem cable and need to be flashed with latest s/w as cactikid says.

turns out the s/w wasn't as old as anticipated. Changed all the wires incase they were faulty and I've finally managed to download it, job done in less than 2 mins. Thanks all!
