no one is giving definate answer but i was told in order to give time for teething probs i would get 16 months, i didnt go for one myself as i have vm bb and after speaking to a few people working for vm it was possible for them to find me out, so i continued with my sat system. i got one for a mate who has bt bb and he's happy with it

im more than happy myself with sat, i got far more channels than before but my mates all said they liked the easier set up of cable, it took me a while to get motorised dish set up, so i told them if they want to move over i would set up their boxes but told them they would need to get someone to set the dish up it for them.

                Hmmmm.

                Well.......

I have VM and just set mine up, and will do my mates tomorrow, and he is on VM also.

Will just have to take the risk I guess, but have also heard that the cs may also be encrypted!

One way to find out for sure,

cs of any kind is a risk radio, i had the option of both cable and sat, so i looked at the options and sat seemed less likely to be picked on as its been going on a while. i also watched a footy match at mates and noticed it flickered a few times during the match and thats with relatively few people on the server at the mo, can the server cope with thousands more jumping aboard once n3 kicks in the rest of the country? cs enryption im not sure but i would like to know how they are intending to get people to pay in 12 months or so their subs

From what I hear, the boxe's will become redundant after a year or so.
Not sure if there will be any way in which to extend the subscription, as the years access is based on the price of the box.
Am looking for another good premium sat server also.
I must try out a few free test clines.
Looking for solid sly, and D+Spain!
I have been doing sat cs for years, and whatever cs you do, you will always get the odd glitch, as is the nature of the beast.
I have a Starview HD combo, and tho closed source, is a nice basic box, and interfaces with my motor no problem, unlike my Dreambox DM 7020.
I also have an Abcom IP AB9000HD which I am playing with.

I see your point also about server overloading, but as I understand it, the cable cs is regionalised, so there must be many many cards, and servers.

It has been in use in Ireland for some time with nothing but good reports.

                    Love your avatar btw.

Paypal, or something similar I would hope.
Would seem a shame to waste the box after a year, if the box becomes redundant.

The fact is, nobody knows for sure at this stage of the game.

what i meant was its only firmware that went on the box to get it running along with the iconnector, the firmware was available initially by email and toolbars now so it cant be that, i spose there could be something written into the iconnector itself that makes the whole thing work so maybe need to buy new one of those each year. like you say, wait and see game

i think anyone who purchases anything related to starview is also a fool going on past experencies for support when things go tits up
