    A780 thoughts. Yes or no?

HAs anybody tested the KV a780 in a N3 area. I would be interested in knowing if its worthwhile. I presume that the LAN cable needs to go into ethernet port in router. Also does anyone know the cheapest proce for the box?

yes ive tried the box and it works very well. The ethernet port goes from your router to the box or you could use a wireless bridge. It is worth the money as only ?160.

my thoughts are this why spend all that time, effort and money on new encryption to put paid to dodgy boxes, then just sit back and let these servers set up and run, just as well left it as it was,so im sceptical if these c/s boxes have a future, only time will tell, but thats just my opinion

Thanks for your thoughts. i suppose the issue is the stability of the servers, which i presume are ran by the box manufacturers and whether the nagra 3 codes are updated correctly and automatically. I heard about a charged access for the Starview 6 and wonder whether this will be common place. I will bite the bullet soon and report my findings.

The A780 works perfect over LAN, theres been a few issues with the iconnector for the A750 with freezing/glitching but hopefully will be ironed out, but at least the KV team are supporting older models.

How long the CS goes on for who knows,it was the same before with the N1 hack, how long....

CS on Sly has been going a very long time as im sure your aware and they have huge sums of ?? compared to VM but have never beaten it!!

It wasnt simply a case of putting "paid to dodgy boxes".More a case of putting paid to the massivley public N1 hack that anyone&everyone knew how to exploit.

If VM can cut the number of modded, chipped, dodgy boxes down by 80-90% they'll be more than happy..the majority of peeps certainly wont bother ~~~~in about with CS.

The "codes" are updated by the subbed card/cards on the server automatically just like they would on a subbed box at home, its not a case of waiting for someone to update the K*ys on the BigMaq toolbar

The A780 is "all inclusive" all you pay is ?160 nothing more after 12,14,18 months ect.
As for the Starview expect to shell out for another new box after 12 months....no new firmware update/upgrade...a new box!!

                Thanks for the comments.
                1. Where can i get one from?
                2. What is a wireless bridge, it may be beneficial, rather than having loadsof Cat5 everywhere.

                  a definite concern.

personally, pay for a year and see how things develop. C/s on sky seems a better and more proven way of getting what u want.

The firmware for Ireland is not released as of now. But it should be soon enough.

if you want all th hd channels your better off going down the satellite box route and c/s as you will be able to view more channels with a hd sat box and a decent size dish than you would with a cable box
