    A780 Ethernet connection...

Hi all, i received my box last week and so far have managed to flash the box and scan for the channels.

So far only the FTA channels work the rest are scrambled. 2 questions really..
    1. I am using a splitter, i have read this can cause a lack of signal, is there a work around for this? Just i need to split it as i need the interned there aswell to allow the box to update?
    2. i was wondering maybe my problem lies in my ethernet connection.. I have noticed whan i plug the ethernet cable is connected from the router to my apple mac computer a light appears on the router showing that that port is in use, whan i connest it to my kryptview no light appears. Could this mean the ethernet plug on the box is faulty or does other people on here notice that no light appears on there router and there box is working ok?

    Hope someone can help me

    Cheers

do you have bb only or minimum package as signals vary, did you checked correct firmware is on box, then try a factory reset auto scan your provider with lan removed out of box, when box reboots plug in lan and reboot router and box again leave it on a channel for a min it should clear.

          BB only
Im gonna give it all another try this afternoon mate, im 99% certain it ws the correct firmware tho.

Does anyone else have the same issue i have regarding the light on the router not lighting up to show a connected computer? Like i say it lights up when i plug my mac in just not the kryptview, so i know the cable isn't damaged,

have u tried it straight into your modem ?

if that isnt working sounds like you havnt got lan software on it

Whenever you connect a hard wire to a router the port number should light as long as the device you connected is switched on.

Another thing is to try a different ethernet cable.

thats what i thought.. this suggests there is a fault with the ethernet port on my box.
Ill try the few things people have mentioned this morning, and if i still have no joy .. then ....

Quick update.. done another scan this morning.. again finding all the channels just the pay channels are scrambled. Tried another ethernet cable and still the light on the router doesnt light up suggesting it just isnt seeing the box. I tried direct to the modem also with the same problem.

If i have installed the wrong software would this cause the router not to see the box?
Im a mac owner, need to wait till my friend is free to use his PC to reflash the box now.

will try reflashing with the link on the sticky on this board then and see how it goes.
Im presuming Firmware and Software are the same thing?? Sorry if that sounds a ridiculous question?

                        A780 ethernet connection?

I know a couple of other ppl had similar problems, could be a problem with lan port on box, take your box 2 sum1 elses house with a vermin connection and try the box via their router, if problem persists then your lan port on box is defo not working, if thats the case then get back onto the seller u purchased box from and ask for a replacement. this is the latest firmware for the a780 Kryptview_A780_18062010.bin

Cheers for all the advice guys.
Gonna try the latest firmware when i can get use of my friends PC.
My feelings are that my port on the box if not working tho, i just would expect a light to show up.
I foolishly bought the box on ebay, i cant see the seller being in a rush to replace it haha! ooops!

is it a lan cable you have as i think there may be 2 look alike cables, and have you rebooted box and router, also wondering if signal is low on bb.

Yeah well when i use the same cable on my mac the light on the router lights up showing a connected device.. so this is what makes me think the adapter on my kryptview is ropey.
Will reflash just to make sure it was the correct version i put on (pretty sure it was tho) and if no joy contact the seller see if he fancies replacing it.
