I wouldn't suggest turning it off when it is in use.

But would certailny advise turning off when not in use if your looking to saving power.

some on /off switches on back of boxes are weak and may if unlucky pack in,i would only use remote to switch box on/off at night as box has to be in sleep mode to scan,i would imagine lan port would also not be in use on sleep mode.

You have a point about the weakness of the mains switch at rear of box. I have a starview and at night i used to switch it off at back, but after a while it became a bit suspect as i had to flick it on and off a few times to get it on, so now i leave it on stand by. Good advice.

Power Scan will also function in standby but not if powered down. So if you dont want to have to keep rescanning when the channels change leave it in standby.

For all the paranoid tight gits who want to save on their bills switch off at the socket but leave once a week overnight in standby.

if you have standby scan activated sometimes when you go to standby then quickly power off mains you can wipe off channels if its in middle of a scan ,
if you want to power off at nights i would suggest you turn off standby scan in installation menu

When I put kryptview a780 in standby then turn back on I lose all channels . I then have to rescan . Any ideas why.
                    Cheers
