i would say something along the lines of
      "hi
i have recently bought an a780 receiver (insert order number/ref number if you have one)
i have just unpacked it and plugged mains cable in.
the box doesn't appear to be powering up at all.
i have checked mains lead, replaced mains fuse and switched power on and off from switch at back of box.
still getting nothing at all on display.
it is my understanding these boxes are delivered ready to accept f.t.a. channels. however my box is doing nothing at all.
i cannot think of anything else to try.
could someone please contact me asap.
      thanks in advance

another thing you could try is
connect the box to your tv,
        switch on
see if you get the kryptview page on your screen..

              you never know m8,
like jumpinjo said, it could be a loose ribbon cable...
things can become loose after the delivery driver kicks them about a bit

                  no worries m8......
you've been sent a dud box by the sound of it...
when you get your replacement box, power it up and connect to tv before flashing....
best to check its working before you flash it......
                  keep us posted .....

get a light and look through vents to see if a cable has come off board, has happened a few boxes in transit, sometimes with a gentle shake you may hear something loose

thanks alot cactikid i opened the cover of the box and found this white cable inside not slotted in, after i put in, turned the mains plug on and it turned on!! flashed it, scanned for channels and its working yayyyy 1 problem though, when i turn the box off, i have to scan for the channels again why does that happen?

dont turn box off, only use remote to put it in stanby, may also be a setting not set correctly
