        i have my main internet connection upstairs and i am running my router at the mo on ther tv connection downstairs so the two boxes are receiving the cable signals seperately albiet from an external splitter installed by vm dont know if this is why the signal upstairs is stronger but i think i have another splitter will root it out and swap see what happens thanx for the help

          Certainly agree, it was you who put the head scratchers at the end.

          I have found in the past that many who have home made screw on ends have left a single outer wire touching the inner. Bought myself a load of compressions and a crimper.

          Oh and the nappies! Thought I'd done with that years ago but seem to had more than ever with grandkids. Thank god they're all out of em now, thats what I thought till daughter said shes fattening up again.

            yes,
            f-plug are a ~~~~in nightmare.
            the screw in ones are useless. you have to be very carefull...

                      i dont know whether it was fconnector or cable but would go for a short on fconnect as i changed the cable for a new pre crimped one that i had
