A780 start up help !!

    A780 start up help !!

    hi first off i have just got one and it came with a750 manuals, well anyway i dont kno if i have the right box as i thought it had a ethernet port to put in the internet in put it has a rs 232 am i missing somthink here? will i need a lead? i have got alot of channels already scaned but it says scrambled or no video any ideas?

    lan port is next to scart socket on back covered by a black sticker you gotta peel of

        i dont think i need to dwn load the firmware as i have the s/w transfer option already on is that correct?

          Yes. Go to the S/W Update option and press ok. If you have your ethernet conected it should either update or state Already Updated.

                ok done that but i can only view free view channels which are in black color my sports an movies are in light blue and comes up with scrambled or no video any ideas?

                  Have you got your ethernet connected to the box and your router?

                  If you have, with them all switched on start with the modem and reboot it, then the router, then the box and leave on Sky Sports 1 for a short while. Make sure they have full booted before doing the next one.

                  One last question, did you scan the correct area?

                      ok i tryed that and no joy i will try a factory reset and cross my fingers

                        ok that didnt work gonna try factory reset, there are 2 birmingham options one 750 and one tdn does it matter what i put? also is the light on the lan port on the box ment to flash?

                          You appear to be rushing.

                          When you leave the box on SS 1 it may take a while for it to find and log on to the server. Had one last night that took over five minutes.

                          Once its managed to log on it will only take a few seconds next time.

                            Not suure about the Birmingham options as I'm up Manchester but the light on the lan port should flash. If your getting BBC 1, 2 and ITV in that order at the top of the entertainment catagory you have probably scanned correctly.
