    comtrend plugs and kv 780

    Hi

back from my holidays with the same problem

all the channels are on my 780 box but I can only receive the freeview ones all the others ( over 300) say scrambled

I have the router and comtrend plug connected by etherent cable in the office on one electric loop

the 780 and the tele connected via the lan ansd comtrend plug ,are in the lounge on another electric loop

do they both have to be on the same electric plug loop

the comtrend plugs have three lights on the top two on both plugs are flashing green

the bottom red light called status is on red

any ideas please its driving me nuts

thanks thought that might be the case

any ideas for solving the problem ?

or is it a long nasty cable

Have you tried rebooting your modem and router while the box is on a scrambled channel?

You could use Open Media wi-fi bridge or similiar instead of
          home plugs.
Try long 240V ext. lead so home-plugs are connected to same
circuit. If this solves problem you could open fuse-board and
connect LIVE wire from both circuits to same circuit breaker.
This will not overload circuit if plugs are not serving kitchen
          appliances which draw heavy loads

Not everyone is lucky enough to have holes in ceilings. Some
people even fill them in with plaster. Bet they are sorry now after
              reading your post, Cacti
Not wise to connect 2 diff. circuits together unless you disconnect
one circuit from circuit board. Better to run 240V cable from one
room to another & fit new socket to end of cable

                thanks for all the help

sorry to be a bore but

I have just tried all the reboots etc

I connected the router and the pc to the same electric plug circuit as the tv circuit by a long extension lead- the missus nearly tripped over the cable

still cant get the plugs to see each other the status red light is still on permanent

very frustrating the channels are all there - just can only get the freeview ones

anymore ideas or help would be appreciated

                    it gets no better

all the plugs are on the same circuit wires all over the house

                    ive downloaded a manual

                    http://download.comtrend.com/Powergrid902_UK.pdf
and seem to have everything in correct
one plug as an ap with all three lights on and the plug that goes into the kv 780 has a red light and an ethernet light that flashes on and off as in the book instructions

still can only get the channles on freeview all the others say scrambled

anyone got any ideas pretty please

seem to have spent half my life on this but im not letting them vermin guys beat me

just a last thought the vermin cable should still be connected to the 780 ?

yes box needs a coaxial feed and a working lan connection, just to add it was a lan cable that went through ceiling not a power cable as its the signal that is transferred to 2 rings.
                      any pipework running through ceiling??

You could also try the plugs in the same room on a different device.

The reason I say this is because I have had a faulty home plug.

                          YIPPEE

I got the thing to work at last

If you follow the comtrend plug instructions it tells you to make the plug nearest the router an AP plug

Once you do this ( you get 30 seconds to run to the other plug near the 780 box) and make this an EP plug

When this is done correctly hey presto they talk to each other and form the circuit

The link to the instruction manual is on one of my earlier posts

so thanks to all for your help and ideas I now have lots of viewable channels - the HD channels are all scrambled but available elsewhere

just need to work out how to get rid of the long extension leadfrom all over the house
you can all get a beer and send me the bill

oh and sorry but I cant run cable from above I live in a bungalow

                            Glad you got it sorted.

Comtrend where one of the first homeplugs and have the config buttons. Work fine once synced.

Later homeplugs just plug n play.

Take away ext. lead & plug into diff. sockets. It might work even
though they are on diff. circuits
