Cable setup

Im looking into ordering a box today. Ive read how to flash the box think im ok with that as I had a eurovox and is similar to flashing that.

Once you have flashed it do you just connect it to the cable slot and connect the internet cable into the back of the router and then into the box? or is there an order you have to set it up?

Best to connect prov cable first, scan for channels, then connect
LAN-cable to router. Reboot router & box if necessary

I am quite new this whole thing I ve got a dbox but it doesn't work with virgin. Can some one tell me how should i Flash it and provide me with the image links please
