OPEN MEDIA condenser

After flashing DK 1.1 to box it will not re-boot,tries to start & cuts out.
Green light stays on,will not go to standby,green light flashes on prompt
from remote but box does not respond.On inspection 25v 470 condenser
was swollen.Replaced 470condenser of less volts; box started up fine,
but condenser was too hot.After fitting new condenser [25v 470] box will
not reboot.Similiar box took DK 1.1 flash & N2 fix and works fine NTL IRL
Both boxes are new. any ideas welcome

Instead of opening the unit, why didnt you send it for for repair / replacement?

Had promised a mate a loan of a working box.He recently bought 2
eurovox 5100 pvr boxes.They no longer work on NTL IRL.
Told him he could have open media until fix arrives for his boxes.
Have been told warranty is gone once you flash box

I'm guessing this "Condenser" is an electrolitic capacitor (470mF)?

Make sure you fit an exact same replacement (same voltage, farad and temperature rating) and get the polarity right (legs the right way round).

Then try flashing again.

I got box to re-boot on SAT side ; fact reset, flashed with DK 1.1
I now have :
Cable side--- box tries to re-boot,cuts out after 5-10 seconds
AV output dies. Tries to re-boot every 30 seconds.
SAT side---- green light stuck,box doesn't cut out, AV output holds
blank screen, like D-box in de-bug mode.
Have used HALLENBERG IFA on several D-boxes 1&2 chip
It connected every time & flashed boxes in under 10 mins
HYperterminal IFA takes 90 mins+ & doesn't always work.
IF I could get a HALLENBERG type IFA for dream I'd be in with a shout.
Have used DK 1.1 on other O.M no problem.
The replacement capacitor is correct V & yF
Temp rating is +105*C.I will have to check orig. temp rating
Polarity is surely right as CAP has one long & one short leg
