My box PVR just displays 'On' ??

I have recently replaced the power supply pcb on my starview PVR (twin tuner) after the previous one blew up. Now it just displays 'On' on the front panel - no tv picture and no response from remote or front panel buttons. Have tried re-flashing but nothing happens-will not download. Is it a goner?

Do you have the hard drive connected m8?
If so take it off and see if it boots up.

When you click the download or start button (can't remember what it is ) on the loader software, wait 5 seconds before powering on the box and see if the flash kicks in now.

How did you manage to flash if your remote is not working m8?
To load the firmware on the PVR you either have to do it via usb through the menu, or by rs 232 lead and pressing ok and exit until the display shows boot.

Thanks for the replys. I've not got a hdd connected. Just tried downloading the software without doing the ok exit thing-had ran out of ideas! Also tried switching on after starting download.

if your remote isnt working press STB I think it is on the remote m8, then try it again.

Done that too. There's no response from remote or front panel buttons. Just the green 'On' -that's it. Don't really no what else to do.

Hi m8 can you try connecting the hard drive see if that makes any difference, long shot but worth a shot.

What firmware did you flash it with m8?
I'm at a loss to what is up with it though to be honest, are you sure theres no blown capacitors on the main board or that ?

It's a bit of long story but here goes. I had oct '07 (i think) firmware on the box. From time to time it crashed, so i had to turn it off and on at the back switch to reboot until once it went bang so opened it up and there was a burn mark on the power supply unit pcb near where the power cable comes in. So i sent it off to a guy in Birmingham to get it repaired, he says he tried a power supply that he had in my box and it blew that too, he reckoned it could be something on the mainboard blowing the psu, and he returned the box to me. I was a little bit suspisous that the mainboard could blow up the psu although i know very little about electronics. This was about 3 months ago. Recently i managed to get hold of a new psu so i tried that in expecting it to blow, but it didn't. Now just the 'On' thing. Don't know if he switched the mainboard or not. Have phoned him and he sounds geniune enough and insists that he didn't but who knows? Cheers for trying to help.

How are you flashing it m8? usb or rs232?
Try the new firmware thats just came out, if that all fails I'd put a new box at the top of your xmas list.

Can't flash it at all, the ok exit 3 times doesnt work. Can't get it to come on to flash with usb, just a blank screen-tv doesnt even detect a scart signal. Reckon it's scrap metal myself.

Hi, no still not working. Been looking around forums but completely ran out of ideas. Not going to send it off for repair-probably a waste of money. Let me know if you have any luck!
