the pvr probably doesnt record in avi or divx

find out what it records in , and then use a program to change your divx to the same format and try it. a lot of boxes use ts which is transport stream , so look at what the pvr records in and use a re-encoder to change divx to the same format

or use a dvd player or recorder that plays divx , only about ?20 at as da

It utilises ts as you said but there is no need to convert from avi to ts. Just convert from avi to MPEG2.

I havent tried this my self but I have answered a few members regards this query and asked them to come back with results..........none have.

Thanks - I have a divx player. but instead of burning disc thought it would be easier to download on usb.

Will try MPEG2 and see what thanks.

When I recorded from PVR it saved as TS - so will try en encoder and update here -

        thanks

The latest firmware (before the dec fix just released) did save in avi but that isn't too common due to it's (apparent) buginess

            Hi Xtravagant,

I have the 'starview 5 usb 2' box and i'm wanting to put downloaded movies onto a usb and watch it through the box to the tv.

Just wondered whether or not you figured out what enconder to use and how it went for you if it worked?

            Thanks bmxridershiz

              Hey satsmo,

Did you ever get a reply and discover what encoder to use on the 'starview 5 usb 2 box' as i'm wanting to watch movies on my box/tv?

              Thanks dude

3 usefull utilities for the Starview recorded files.

ConvertXToDVD_v4 this converts and writes .ts to DVD

AutoGK this converts .ts to avi

GOMPLAYER this just plays .ts on PC
