Starview 2 and the RF modulator

    Hi

I'm trying to output the sinal from the RF modulator of my starview box so I can send the signal aroun the house via coax. I've tried various channels and different variations of PAL but can't seem to get a signal. Anyone one have a solution?

    Hi,
I tried to do this over a year ago and was able to get picture (& sound), but quality was v poor - like when channels are too close together. I tried altering the default output channel from the Starview to no good effect. So if anyone else has resolved I would also be interested to find solution.

I'm not getting any picture or sound, I can only conclude that the RF modulator is nacked, unless i'm missing something??

i did this all i did was run a pieace of coax from the tv out to the tv in on the back of the tv then tuned tv untill i found the picture
for a better picture use gold rf leads i use these on my satellite system to my main tv with good results and not much loss of picture quality on a 20mtr run

Hi. I admit I may not be an expert but I understand the basics of doing this. Connect RF out to TV arial conection and get the TV tp scan the channels until if finds the correct one for the starview box. I've done that and all I get are the standard annalog channels, euro sport and couple of other none standard channels. All these must be comming from the cable connection because I don't have an arial connected to this TV. What it won't show is the channel the starview is on. The RF modulator must be outputting something but it doesn't seem to output it's own signal.

                Hi,

I had my box setup outputting a signal to my main TV via scart and I fed the RF to a TV in a different room.

You do sound like you have done most things, but I think you have a conflict with the output RF Channel on the Box. Different channels are transmitted on different RF Channels, and if you try and output the Box on the same RF channel as say BBC1 then there may be conflicts, and the picture will not show up.

To change the RF channel the box is outputting press Menu, select User Setup, select Modulator then go down to the RF channel and change it to a different number. Bear in mind that there are often a lot of channels used already, so without going into it to much it is just a bit of trial and error.

Once this has been changed just rescan the tv to see if it finds the Box. What you may be able to do to make things a bit easier is to look at the channels that your TV has found and make a note of their RF channel numbers. Then you can pick an RF Channel for the box that is different to these.
eg. If the TV has scanned and found BBC1 on RF Channel 30 and ITV on RF Channel 36 then if you set the box output on RF Channel 33 then this may be a good starting point.

For your info I had mine set to Pal-I and RF Channel 38.

                Good Luck!

Connect a second scart lead from box to a VCR (or DVD recorder)
Run co-ax cable from VCR (RF out) to second TV
Set VCR channel to AV; or E1; or SCART (depends on model)
Scan second TV (UHF band) to find output from box

Thanks for replying. I've changed the RF channel a number of times but i'm still having no luck.

Hi, I may be missing the point here but why don`t you just use a video sender, ihave three tv`s connected and can change channels in all three rooms and have a good picture/ sound quality (except when the microwave is used but this can be overcome with the new senders)

Starview 2 and the RF modulator

I got my SV2 PVR box to work the other day thanks go to ad1969 for help in changing to PAL-I. The thing to remember here is to separate getting the output from the box correct and then worry about transmitting the signal to other devices - this is what I suggest. Connect main TV via SCART (as normal) and set RF output to PAL-I and Ch 38; then connect an aerial cable from the RF modulator output to the aerial input of the main TV. Then tune the TV to pick up Ch 38 on any spare channel and save that. You can now pick up SV on either SCART or RF and once this is achieved you can go on to push that RF signal to other devices via cables, amps or whtever you like. Hope this helps someone. Tony
