The latest firmware releases are just old firmwares released to autroll.
The very latest one dated the 20th or 21st (BoxPVR_E_v4506_15Oct.bin older firmware but worked the best), fixed by Sunrise to autoroll the firmware released a few days b4 this one is full of bugs and was full of bugs when it was first released.

hi very new to all this and hope i dont p~ss anyone off by asking the basic things but i have downloaded the new firmware and it is saved to my laptop but it wont open it keeps saying cant open a bin file can anyone give me some help/step by step guide on how to mend my dads (box the box pvr)

You dont need to open the bin file You will need to have pvr loader v4.01 and a usb to 9 pin null cable to send the bin file info to box from your lap top. It can also be done via a usb method but i did my1 with cable

I know the Eurovox EX5000 can record but you have to watch what you're recording. The Starview 4 can record to an external hdd, but again can not record a different channel to the one you watch.

Any ideas?

Having the same problem with the xmas eve update,
the epg works much better,but have lost BBC 3/4 and a few others, but it would seem all ppv channels are working.
Like yourself a few ideas would come in handy.

This firmware generally works fine for me, big thanks to all those that contributed. However I can't rename the favourites now, when I try to do it the box resets - has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix?
