starview 12 month run time

now that starview is on the mend has anyone had their starview working beyond the supposed 12 month limit , or was this just scaremongering.

hi on carling 103 in menu it had a date on it mine was 15th oct people said this was end date .but on new firmware it dosnt.has anyone got a date on theres thanks..

ive had mine over a year now its a starview 6,when i put the firm ware in to some starview 7s they came up listing valid till 02 01 2012, i was stupid i thought that i would update my srarview 6 with this update it came up valid 03 03 2011, i then did a factory reset and started from scratch and put the old firm ware back on to it, this worked it did not show any valid date,but like the rest the boxes all went down,ive just put the latest fix onto my box which if it was going to run out after a year it would not give me anything,Suprise its running,not with all the channels that we used to get around 2 years ago but at least its got some sky sports and also more movie channels,even sky premier,so for the answer you are looking for is i think its scare mongering or ive got my dates wrong,if it does go tits up i will put it on a post

Now it is on the mend,its still got all the useless channels being displayed,is there any channel edit like we used to have to get rid off these ie test channels,cannel 14,channel 22 ect SO F###I## Annoying . opps and also the duplicate ones

the reason you may have multiple channels,have you done loads of scans?factory reset and scan again without lan.

Starview - 12 more months! What you wanted to know!! The Show Must Go On

Hi guys as you probably all know or are worried about is how long the life of your sv box!
Well originally ever ones box was intended to have a life of 12 months but due to the unfortunate circumstances for the past 8 weeks, to keep all of the existing customers happy all boxes are expected to get 12 months from the point installation of the showmustgoon and enabling activation using 1819.

This is laughable really how can they guarantee this, you can only take this on a day to day basis as it could go tomorrow who knows, same with any box, so to give a guarantee is pointless, but i suppose, they will never be seen as they type and put this on forums faceless and as we all know could disappear anytime change names etc.

Also what people need to understand they have a stockpile of 17,000 boxes they need to shift, i would suggest people that have the boxes NOW make full use of them BUT defo not buy new ones........ you know the old saying, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

The Starview box is no longer been made either so what will happen when the stockpile is sold.

best bet would be, wait for all channels to come back, and sell. move onto sat. at least if server goes tits up, you can get a new one, but box can still be used. im sure this is a way of shifting stock, why would new people pay your subs.

Or get a krypt a780 not bad at all would have to score it 8/8.5 out of 10 as 4 noview can only score it about 5 to be fair ..........
