    Help needed badly

    Hi,

Like quite a few users I have been unable to update my firmware on my Starview 3. (Flash failed message over and over - And it isn't a com port or cable issue because I have tried all possible combinations via USB and Serial ports).

I then tried to use the Keymaster 1.2 program to give me a working box, even if it meant daily changing keys. This is not working either. After changing the keys to the latest that Keymaster gives me, I just get channel code updating messages on all non-FTA channels. The updates sometimes go as high as 130% but the channels are never decoded.

Can somebody please offer me any advice that could get me a working box by either method?

    EMU definately says on

When I re-Scan, my box says that my channels are from Telewest (i'm in Leeds) and I entered the Telewest Keys that Keymaster 1.2 gives me. These are dated 4th December but no newer ones seem available.

Leeds is ex C&W. Can you borrow a stand alone PC and take the USB adapter out of the equation?

I have a PC with a 9 pin serial port Upstairs. Why will this help?

It's quite confusing because I moved from Bristol where Telewest became Virgin. When I got to Leeds Virgin said that I was now in ex-NTL land and I had to change my email and Virgin+ box to NTL.

When I scan channels with the Starview it finds no channels under NTL but 300+ channels under Telewest.

Now you say that Leeds is ex-C&W!

I think I need to lie down for a while

There has been some alignment in VM areas and its hard enough for me to keep up. According to the Net ID thats what it is for your area, but you could be bordering on a TW area. If TW works for you then use it as you have done.

Well buddy, it looks like you have hit on something.

I tried re-scanning using EX-CW and it found the same 300+ channels as on TW. I put in the Ex-CW key codes and my box is working fine,

                  Ta very much.
