Encoding Video To Play On SV4 USB

    Hi,

Firstly, I am very pleased with my SV4 box, so pleased I am trying to think of additional applications for it.

I'd like to convert some films I have to play on my SV4 box through the USB. This would mean they were a couple of clicks away and I wouldn't have to get my laptop and out the video to the tv etc etc etc......

I know the SV4 box records in .ts (Transport Stream).......but can anyone shed any light on the best apps to use to turn an AVI into a .ts?

    Thanks in advance....

    Hi mrsouthg,

have you tries a program called SUPER?

I convert .avi's with it all the time.

It's not the prettiest looking program in the world - but it is free.

    Hope this helps

Are you sure Super can convert avi to ts?

No good to me anyway, as doesn't work on Vista.

Well .ts is a format selectable as an output container.

I haven't tried it on my SV4 I must admit.

You will need to encode to MPEG2 with .ts container, not sure about bitrates or audio codecs, ill post more details later.

                  Hi,

I've played around with Super and I am finding that the
audio gets screwed up. Totally out of sync.

I appreciate it might be something to do with the way the
audio is encoded in my download.

                  Any idea's anyone????

I saw satsmo asked for people to get back with results of
encoding to mpeg2, as opposed to specifically to .ts.

                  I'll try that.

Thanks for reporting back. I wish I could help but know absolutely nothing about video, and as I said earlier Super won't work on my comp.

By the way, can anyone recommend a very simple (preferably free) video editor please that will work with .ts files? My recordings from the SV4 don't end when they should so I have a few half hour programmes that take up eight hours of hdd space - I'd like to be able to cut them down.

                    Cheers
