use the v1.07 in uk m8 its not the latest but wise to use as other f/w can kill clones and older genuine boxes

go here an buy this it will sort you out in no time. you get everything you need on the disk that you get with the circuit. the only thing you will need to get is a null modem cable.

          Tailor-Made Circuits

I just recently did this and am now completely up and running with no problems at all.

Big thanks to satsmo an everyone else that helped me out, much appreciated.

responding to your message for help with 8882

you need to get a 8882 fix adapter kit bud

tailor made circuits (on line) sell the 8882 fix adapter (?15)
maplins sell the null modem lead (?10) and you will need to get a
usb - com port converter from maplins (?4) if you don't have a com port on your lappers or pc.

follow the instructions that come with the 8882 adapter and you should be fine, No promisses but its worked for me.

              All the best

Hi I have recently purchased the Starview usb/panset 8882 fix and am in the process of trying to fix the 8882 problem. I've been following the instructions but when trying to download the .bin file it keeps giving me a Can't Open COM1 message. I've tried the other COMs but the same message is displayed am i doing something completely wrong?

I've tried all the options you've said but no luck i'm beginning to assume the box is pretty much dead or i'm stupid!!! The port on my laptop was set at 6 so thought that might have been the problem but I set it to 1 and it still didn't download. ports 2-4 are already in use.

Yes mate I think so on the box it says Serial Lead (Null Modem) - 9 pin (female). This is the right one isn't it?

Sorry mate I've tried the other PC and no joy there either. It's the first time i've tried using the cable and got it from Maplin. I've just notice on the box though that it seems to fire up a channel and is staying on it - do you think this is a temporary thing and it will reset back to the 8882 error after a while? Thanks for all your help by the way.

Thanks again Jok I'm up and running again but think I will purchase another cable just in case. I'm really not sure how it's working but will probably die agaian soon.

It does not seem to work, everthing is good till the download section, there is no progress bar, the display changes from 8882 to 8881. thats it.
