    starview2 clone or genuine

    hi ive got starview2 genuine with 25x7 vents on top flashed new firmware sound works a treat but my mates have 20x7 vents on top is that a clone.
    i thought clones had 18x7 vents on top so cos its got 20x7 vents on can i use new firmware on it dnt wanna kill me mates box u see and if i cant use genuine firmware is there a fix coming out for clones let me no cheers

      think if it has less than 25 it is a clone box
      there is no fix for stv 2 clone yet

          Grill counting is never a good guide. Look at the heatsink on the CPU through the grills. If it has a spiky appearance its a clone. And yes there is a fix for an SV2 called The Box.

          Are you sure your mate hasnt got an earlier model?

              clones used to have 2 red spots of wax inside also as sats says honeycombe on top of the heatsink

                  opps - i am sure my box woz not a clone - hence tried the sv2 802 fix.... but no power at all - could it be that my bo is a clone.... n if it is - is there anything that I can do (cheaply) instead of forking out 4 anotha box? (n how do I make sure I buy original & not clone)

                      i dont no if hes got earlier model or clone just 20x7 vents ive got 25x7
                      i used genuine firmware sound its been i dont wanna chance it killing mates box but if i looked in system info on box and u see it has had old genuine firmware on last time they got zapped do u reckon i just try new firmware on that did clone boxes have different firmware as 4.51e firmware last time they got zapped

                          20 x 7 vents is a clone, their is software for these. look 4 sunrise. also check the back of the box where the scarts are. genuine should be on the right of the box on the back as you look at the box from the front. also do a internet search. lots of imformation on how 2 tell if its a clone.

                              there seem to be no new software yet for starview2 clones checked on other sites aswell so just waitin to see when or if it gets done or released
