Problems flashing a "The Box Super"

    hi
can anyone guide me as to which files i need to update (serially) my "the box super" i believe this box is a Starview 2, i have tried to download with GTrom loader and H20071130_802E_api.bin.
When i try to download i get a timeout on the serial connection.
    any ideas please
    Thanx

the box super is a starview 3 , not 2

gtrom 8.02ee is the one you want and use a null modem cable preferably in xp and select the correct com port , set com port to 115200 and then flash the receiver

you may not be doing anything wrong , depends on your setup etc

I hope you are using xp and not vista , and I also hope you arent trying to use a usb2serial adapter as they can cause trouble too

so as long as you are in xp , have the correct com port selected , you have a standard 9 pin com port on the back of your pc , and you have a working null modem cable you should be able to flash the box with little or no trouble

but if you are using vista or a usb adapter or both then you may struggle with it , or fail completely

standard com ports on a pc are com 1 and com 2

may also be worth making sure you havent got bluetooth or mobile phoe software blocking the com ports , so google enditall and run that to run on a bare minimum set of tasks in xp too

            thanx
guilty on both, using vista on my laptop and a usb serial converter, however the usb serial works on my old dbox so i thought it would work on the starview. is that not the case

the loaders are usually designed to run in xp , and as you should well know vista isnt 100% backwards compatible with previous xp software and drivers , and these usb adapters are fussy at the best of times and most drivers are for xp as well

I have never used vista but you see so many peeps telling others to use xp and proper com ports ( like I do with a evo d530 running xp pro ) that there must be a reason for it

let me put it this way , this evo 530 running xp always works , always , any receiver I flash with it is flashed just the once and it never , never fails

I have 3 usb adapters I have tried on my vaio lappy running xp , and not one has ever flashed a box , so draw your own conclusions , in the meantime its the old K.I.S.S. principle ( keep it simple s... )

Junger check your com port settings set to between com 1 and 4 and bits per second set to 115200, dbox tends to reset them to 9600

As far as I know it depends on the chipset of the usb mate only ones I know that work have the KTDI chipset!

hi junger, sounds like you have it sorted now but all i did was to download fix onto usb, flash box using guidance from here and had no probs. AFAIK I did not do anything in particular that made it easier/ more technically correct - not that I would know how.... anyway, pm me if you continue to have probs with Vista.
