    Which Starview do I have (1 2 3 or 4)?

I suspect my box is Starview 1 because it's a rather dated-looking thing! It's a light, brushed silver with Starview written on it. The screen is a digital and in green, showing the time when not in use. The thing is it doesn't actually say whether it's 1,2, or 4!

I need to know so that I can download the correct firmware for it to start working again.

Any help would be much appreciated!

yes its a starview 1 , and you can only use official firmware on it if its not a clone , otherwise use the clonesafe firmware on it otherwise you will brick it

i read somewhere that if the scarts are on the left (if ur looking at the box from the font) then its a clone box if its on the right then its the real deal. i may be wrong....but i thought id let you know anyway.

1st time posting and you guys are the best - very helpful!...thanks!

I've had a look for new firmware for this box and I've only managed to find a fix, not actual firmware. Would you know whether this will suffice or will I have to wait until new firmware is released??

          Thanks in advance.

              Thanks Ramjet!

Have tried to upload then fix in usual way - ie using the GT 4Rom loader and loading the fix as I would when loading a BIN file.

After factory resetting and auto-scanning, turning EMU to on and Setting Default key (before and after turning EMU on),I'v still had no joy. What am I dong wrong??

Am I flashing the fix inorrectly??

Ramjet, teach me Oh wise one!

              Thanks in adance...again!

                  try this

try flashing with the correct f/ware as you are switching on. you need to catch it at a certain point for it to start d/load Try this out,
                  power off starview
                  open gtromv4
make sure you select CryptStar-v1.5-Core257 for clone or core400 for genuine
click this link to see how to tell which box you have. Attack of the Clones |

click download then quickly power on the starview and the loader should start..
try this a couple of times.

                    Thanks for all the help!

This forum WILL be my first point of call from now on regarding technical issues.

                    Thanks once again!
