i remember some 1 had this problem on here and they said they read a post on a diffrent forum about them having to jtag the box but he never gave a link or anythink, sorry i cant help m8 but some1 mite read this and point u in the rite direction,or try googleing starview hd combo brick fix jtag.
i just found this but try at yr own risk m8 i have never tried it and dont want the blame.
My hd combo was recently bricked but i fixed it using a jtag cable. Well technically somehow the bootloader had messed up. I took mine apart and inside is a 2x10 pin header and also a 2 pin header. skymax software couldn't make a connection using the 2x10 pin header so i connected one of the 2 pin headers to the jtag cable (pin 20 on the cable if i remember correctly) and then connected the cable to parallel port on the ******Then all I did was switch on the cable box and it booted up so I reinstalled the bootloader which should be on the chatterbox or ****** toolbar and its worked fine ever since. If you need an image of these pins I uploaded one in another thread.

        sorted!

I opened up the box and found 2 x 1 header pins put a jumper on them off an old hardrive i had lying around powered it up and hey presto it booted up... at this point i took the jumper back off and it resorted back to green light only situation...

i put the jumper back on and fired it back up installed HD300E_Boot_V0021.ubt via the usb turned it off removed the jumper turned it back on and hey presto again its come back to life all on its own...

so from that i think what ever i did to it trying to change the firmware accidently removed the bootloader file which fired up the box

thanks for the info it helped and saved me a few quid too
