still not able to get my starview working. Thankfully it powers up now.

I wait until the box shows "on" and then press download on port 3 (usb) n download bar shows but it remains on 0% and does not download....

tried both 455 n 457 versions n still no joy - any help appreciated

Try pressing the download button immediately after you switch the box on. Keep trying a few times

            Hi

Nothing happens at all on port 1,2 or 4

Tried it a few times - ie downloading when switched on

When i switch my box on i get "-" which moves left to right then the "on" appears

also I got a usb to serial cable but the cable and my the box have male connectors - so i got a female to female cable. (both from ebay) - how can i check that the cables work/work properly?

This has been a common problem with the starview 2.
I suggest you look at a post by Zran. Last posted on the 21 Dec 08
If you go to the search function you will see on the right and side you can search by his name.
After clicking the search button you should see the post is headed "Starview stuck on fix"
It has the links to all the downloads you need.
It may take you about 20 mins as the fix is quite long but it fixed my sv2 no problem
let me know how you go on.
Use the female to female rs232 cabe if you can.
If you are using USB to female connector make sure you load the USB drivers onto you PC.
              Link for usb drivers below

              Cheers
              Ash
