            Hey ByteMaster,
Thanks for your spider firmware and the clear instructions.
            Great work.
            I was not able to get some Transponder's signal, specially S*Y S***ts HD3 12363V 29500.
The reason was my Panasonic TV inbuilt Freesat was connected to the same LNB line.
Soon I set the TV to DVB, spider firmware happily received all the TP Signal up to 98%

              Hi ByeMaster,
              Just a quick question!
Once we load the Spider HD 9000 firmware on Starview HD Combo+, later on can we directly(downloading from spiderbox website: Home to USB) updated the Spider HD 9000 firmware on Starview HD combo+ via USB?

              Please reply.

              Cheers

Hi I would suggest against that method as real spiders are getting corrupted if they lose connection Very easy and 10 times faster from USB. Also all the current spiderbox patches are compatible
Once upon a time it was all about backdoor 0 passwords, now its only about the rsa keys !!!!!!!

Is the spider firmware the one called 'Alternative Starview Firmware'?

I have been using the Carling+_F531_1207 firmware for quite some time and have a reliable c\s sub and dont see any glitches unless my connection is being worked hard with other traffic such as my wife watching streamed internet TV, skype and downloading films. Is there any benefit to using Spider firmware? The Carling EPG is a bit hit and miss but i dont really care about that. I can also use the spider channel editor software to organise things on the SV. Pros and cons anyone?

Hi ByteMaster. I haven't posted enough to download the file I think you're talking about (Digital Kaos - Downloads - Alternative Firmware Starview Combo HD LAN) but the thread here suggests it's going to contain the brick fix + a Spiderbox firmware - am I right? I have had a Spiderbox 7000HD and 9000HD for a couple of years and the family are used to its menu and layout so if I could install that on the HD Combo I'd be chuffed. Cheers.

UPDATE: After posting this message I can now download - hooray! The instructions say specifically NOT to use a USB to serial cable. FWIW, I had to unbrick my HD Combo a couple of years ago when it lost its MAC address and I did use such a cable without issue. I did obviously have to connect a null modem cable onto the serial end so it behaved correctly. It'd be a real PITA to install WINXP on a 12 year old PC just to get access to its serial port, so do you know if I could use the aforementioned cable, or possibly, a PCMCIA serial port? Appreciate any help you could provide.
