Hmm, I wouldn't have expected the line voltage to be high enough to give you a bad shock. Sometime I get a slight tingling if I'm earthed when messing about with the co-ax. You probably earthed a static build-up from yourself down the coax or through the Starview casing. Static charges can be in the kV region. But low current :-)

yes ive had the slight tingle before but this was huge and tripped the fuse. Well I'm still here so it couldn't have been that big a shock eh!

I've had the tingle plenty times before playing disconnecting/connecting etc. (sweaty palms and all that jazz) but never a bolt. Does the box still work?

I use to have this problem when messing around with the Reply box. The problem was that the metal casing was floating at around 60 volts. So if I touched an earthed object or the cable I would be moonwalking down the road.

My girlfriends vm box does exactly the same! But the box she has from them looks like a death trap anyway so it's no surprise really.

These sorts of things are double insulated and therefore require no earth, does mean occasionally you might get a tingle here and there.
