    Starview/Eurovox/Dreambox - Which One ?

I am about to purchase a cable box for a relative.
I have always had a starview and I am not well up on the others.
I would like an opinion on which one is the best.
    Thanks

Like you I have been with Starview since day 1. I think they are all about the same. The difference is which one gets fixed when the auto roll stops working as the key sequence calculation is changed? the Starview $ fix was fast the last time, stick to that as you can record too, although only what you are watching as it is a single cable feed

I have had a max V, I now have both a eurovox ex1000sl and a starview 4. The 1000sl is a really nice looking box but i think performance is the important thing. You're absolutley right, The starview 4 also scans in about 5-6 mins and the max V and 1000sl both take a lot longer to scan, So my prefrence is the sv4. Go for that one mate.

I've had the Super USB (Starview 4) and the Ex5000. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. In my opinion the Super USB has a far superior user interface and is easier to use for a newbie or technophobe. Also guest will simply assume that?s it a subbed box. The Ex5000 has a slightly better picture.

As far as recording features goes I?ve only used the Super USB for recording and the beta firmware is very glitchy but then it is a beta (I hope). So if you where getting the kids or a technophobe a box then I would suggest the Starview 4. If you had a 50 inch plasma and you where getting it for yourself then I would recommend the Ex5000.

Just to note initially I thought the Super USB had a better picture when it had the original 1.03 FTA firmware on. But that changed after I upgraded it. I wasn't sure if that was due to the update or the LCD or Ex5000 warming up.

I haven?t had a Dreambox so couldn't possibly comment. But they have been around for a long time and have huge support which is also very important when it comes to updates or any issues.

Not being funny, but if you post in the Starview section won't you get a sligtly biased opinion?

not at all tony, I have own a eurrovox ex1000sl myself and ive had a max V too. Not saying there's anything particularly bad about the vox's but I prefer the starview myself the inteface is much less drab than the vox's and the scan time and epg is far superior.

Did the eurovox forum think the eurovox was best and the dreambox forum think the dreambox was best?

If somebody had asked me the same question in the eurovox section (which I also frequent) They still would have gotten the same answer mate.

If you want a box with the fastest fixes that is simple to setup and use then you can't do better than the Kryptview.

Personally I have no time for anything other than Dbox2's and Dreambox's, they are far superior IMO.

Starviews, Eurovoxes, Kryptview and all otehr diddy boxes will be door stops once the new encryption rolls out.
