Starview help

I'm new to this, this is my first post. I'm a complete and utter novice.
I think I have a Starview 1 box, (Ive had it about 2 years?)
Maybe someone out there could tell me?

I need help....big time.

My friend used to update my box, but he moved away last year.

Ive been browsing previous threads but all the lingo is in Chinese (PSU's, SV2 R32'S!!!!!)

For the past month or so, I no longer can recieve Set sports 1 & 2.

System information says
API ver : 4.00e_E
Boot ver : 7.0

Can a kind soul out there not only help but possibly explain everything as though speaking to an 8 year old retarded child please

you can update firmware yourselfe mate with null modem cable
plenty info on site just check on search and type what you want cheers mate

you need to download sv1 firmware

you need a NULL modem cable

Play.com (UK) : DB9 Female DB9F 9 Pin RS232 Serial Null Modem 2m Cable : Computing - Free Delivery

or

Serial Null Modem 9-Pin Female to 9-Pin Female > Maplin

you may need an additional cable if you have a laptop and dont have a 9 pin serial I/O port

USB to DB9 Serial Port Adapter Cable - buy online from Blue Unplugged

or

USB to Serial 9-Pin Male Adaptor > Maplin

get these first and have a read around the forum, come back and ask if you get stuck
