    db9 to rj45

A mate has lost his db9 to rj45 connector for box and they are like rocking horse cack - i got a cisco console lead but dont work - ive seen the ones you wire yourself but people have tried these - the prob is that there is a pcb board inside and a few have suggested this stores the activation of the box in but not sure about that - after all its just ethernet signal and the right config of pins should work? anyone got a knackered box and dont need their adaptor i would be most grateful.

The starview DB9 to RJ45 is a dongle people tend to overlook this. It is not purely a serial to ethernet adapter or interposer.

    And welcome to the forum.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas Adams

you did not read the forum before posting either

as satsmo said , its not as simple as rewiring the item due to the fact its a bespoke dongle , which people tend to overlook

There are no active components, just a couple of caps in there, it should be pretty simple for someone with even moderate PCB skills to build - a potential to make some cash if anyone is up to it
