    SV4 - Firmware 1.07 - Feedback

    Hello,

Just a bit of feedback and a bit of a wish list / sugestions for any updates. This is not me moaning, as I think the people who work hard on this firmware for us are gods, and I am more than happy with the set up that I have.

Firstly, when I record stuff (this can be tempremental), I can not rename any of the files, though there seems to be this function, when I rename the file, it just goes back to the orignial name (date/channel format), and I forget what the hell I've recorded.

Second. I've sorted out my channels in to my favourites. So I have an entertainments, sports, movies, music and news and docs and have renamed them as such. However, when I go on my 'SPORT' chanel list (FAV 2) it has the name MOVIES (FAV 3), though the sports channels are still there. The same happens with FAV4 having the same name as FAV5 even though I've entered in a different name. - This is a very very minor point.

Third. - The well reported EPG issue from 11pm to midnight (my EPG Updading (green button) is visible though). I think pretty much everyone knows this and has this problem.

Fourth. The inabillity to sort the channels - though this dont really bother me because of the favourites function.

Fifth. I would really like a reminder function on the EPG as I am forgetful and cant remember what I want to watch in a nights viewing.

Sixth. My wife can not figure out how to use the Favourties function, and for example, if she wants to watch a movie she will scroll through every flaming channel on the EPG till she gets to the movies. Grrrr its bloody simple to use and I keep showing her!

I think thats everything, so, as you see its all pretty minor (apart from the wife!), and I am very very happy with my SV4, and thanks once again for the top support for these forums.

    Cheers,

    SM.

Try uploading the file to your pc and then rename it. I had a similar problem and it sorted it.

Are you in Ireland or the UK?

It is been looked at but as its minor to a point it may take a while.

You can use the SV4CE (Starview 4 Channel Editor) to do this. Thanks to TheBish for his work on this.

    So would I.

Mine does that also but thats a wife problem not a box one

Apologies for answering via a quote of your post but I found it to be the easiest way to do so.

      No bother mate :

Try uploading the file to your pc and then rename it. I had a similar problem and it sorted it.

I've tried this, but my HDD didnt like it, and the box formatted thed drive before it let me use it again.

Are you in Ireland or the UK?

UK - Its an odd 'problem' this one. It doesnt upset the function of the box, and everything works as it should, its just one of little things that irritates me.

You can use the SV4CE (Starview 4 Channel Editor) to do this. Thanks to TheBish for his work on this.

What is this? Has it passed me by?

      Thanks again mate.

Strange regards the filename as it works fine for me since I had a similar problem as said. But I have run a few tests on it since for various reasons and as a results have factory reset a number of times.

Maybe a factory reset will do the same for you. The SV4CE can be found here 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download The Box Super USB Channel Editor.rar

Its only for use on Channel Data Files from an SV4CE. Its still a bit buggy, (as it is still Beta and the author is working on a new release), but it does the trick in moving and editing channels.

@JoK its not just the wife she actually invites sisters and friends around to do so just because it annoys me
