I seem to be having big problems recording and paursing on the sv4. Sometimes works, but more times not! I have bought a new usb 2.0 external seagate drive but that has not helped. I have tried all the firmware updates with no success. Any ideas??

what problems are you having? if it is the screen going blank when recording it is a firmware problem that we all have to live with till the new firmware arrives. try stopping it from recording and trying again this sometimes works, also turning the box off completely at the wall socket and back on cures a lot of the little problems there are with this box.

Hi mate,
I am using the 1.07 fw and have found that if you have a black screen after pressing rec, the chances are that you have pressed the rec button more than once. Make sure when you want to record a programme that you only press the REC button once only. It's tempting to hit it more than once because the reaction time when you hit the rec button takes a few seconds.
Just try pressing the rec button once, Let me know how it goes.

Thanks, using 1.07 f/ware, just that it sometimes freezes the problem is it freezes more than not. Could be solved when new firmware comes out? Love the box, just wish it would record every time.

firmware issues usually only get addressed if the majority of people are having the same problem, I have a cheap ext hdd plugged into mine at the moment and it's fine, Is there any chance you can try a different hdd and see if the result is the same?

Yeah mate, the only issue I have is that sometimes when I play a recording back there might be a tiny skip in the recording but this isn't all the time. On the whole I have no problems. You could try turning off the box with the switch on the back and leaving iot for a min or two before rebooting and trying again (providing you haven't already)

You seem to know a lot about this prob.
I have tried everything u said but its not working. Its showing pictures i put on it fine. I have put files on it to try get it to work but when i press on them they dont do anything. Its recording for 5mins then freezing i have to unplug box everytime cause it wont do anything. Is there anything i can do? plzzzzzzzComment

Hi, elayno. Sorry you mentioned you had put files on it to try to get it to work, which files are you referring to? You mean the firmware or something else. Another suggestion to both of you would be to format the ex hdd using your pc instead of the box. If your pc won't let you convert to FAT the theres a tool that will do this for you called Swiss knife.Sometimes a slow gradual approach does more good than a large gesture.Comment
