starview 7 black screen

my mate has starview 7 that was working fine then screen went black with a buzzing noise.
is it f***ed.
any ideas?

hmm power surge maybe?unplug box and look inside wonder if caps are gone or loose ribbon cables,2 pin plug or 3 pin plug,as i have seen problems with 2 pins and bad connection.
