Which logo file for Starview 4

Hi All
Need a little help
My Starview 4 will be arriving tomorrow.
I've d/loaded Lanx's tutorial and the V1.07 firmware file.

Lanx says download the logo file.
The only logo file i can find is TheBoxSuperUSB_BG_LOGO_080904_.bin

Is this the correct one?

Thats the correct logo file. However if you turn the box on and the boot screen says "The Box Super USB", then the logo file is already present and all you need to do is flash with 1.07.

In most cases the logo file should be present. If its a blank screen then you need the logo file.

It looks like i have everything I need

I've been reading that quite a few people have been bricking their Starview 4's

Are there any preacautions i can take to avoid this?

If i just follow Lanx's tut should I be ok?

Dont worry you will be fine. The bricking of some boxes are due to not following instructions

The 8882 fix with a Max232 is available but any one who has a bricked box can usually send it back under warranty. T&C loopholes regards boxes flashed with firmware not been exchanged are just a way out for some dodgey suppliers.

All reputable suppliers will change a bricked SV4. But as said you will have no problems.

Starview 4

I have had 2 bricked Starview 4s in last month and seller says he wont replace any more.I have another ready to set up but am anticipating the same problem,(8882), being a pessimist. Can anyone suggest a fix if it goes wrong? What is a Max 232?

I saw this one on ebay. This is a max232 kit that will help you with your problem mate.

Hi All

Box arrived yesterday and flashed it no problems at all.

All channells available as far as i can tell.

I've edited and saved the chanel list and removed all the chaff.

Only real problems I ve found so far is the EPG started having holes in it at around 11pm - 12pm last night even after a new download and the record function seems very hit and miss

I was using an 8gig pen drive - sometimes it would record ok but at other times the box just froze at the rec init stage so had to power off and on again.
No problem for me really.

There a lot of people having this issue mate, you're not alone and im sure it will be addressed in a future fw update. I have this problem too.

I got my box Friday used the 107 firmware had no problems the record function perfect had a problem then formated drive in the box menu and had no trouble since doing this maybe down to drive comparability using 2.5 inch samsung laptop drive 100gb sata works a treat thanks to all involved for tutorial and firmware avalible on here great work thanks again
