starview 4 pvr bug can anyone help

my starview 4 is running firmware 7 and every thing seems ok apart from when i record some thing to the hard drive .
some time when i record all i get is the sound recorded ie:a black screen with the running time at the top of the sceen and the sound playing but no picture.
am i donig somthing wrong .my drive was use in a pc before but i have formatted it with the starview so i have no idea what going on

i am using a 3.5 drive with a psu but the drive was formated with the ntfs system when it was use on the pc,is it posible that even though i formated it with the star view ,that it has retained the ntfs filing system as i am starting to think that ,that maybe the case .

will hook back to pc check file system and if it is ntfs will zero the drive and try again.
