thanks very much for the great tut going to get my box in a few days and hopefully by following your tut i wont get that dreaded 8882 error regarding this box many thanks once againOk, as I just bought the Starview 4 box, currently awaiting delivery, I looked at all the threads, and headaches people had and the fixes mentioned here, so I came up with this easy step-by-step guide.
Please let me know if I missed anything.
From start to finish….
1. Plug in the starview 4; attach the cable feed to the cable input on the back of box
2. Plug the box in to the TV using the usual scart lead.
3. Download the required firmware for the box from Internet.
4. Format your usb drive to FAT32
5. Copy logo & bin file to usb drive (copy/paste)
6. Whilst starview is off - Insert the usb pen drive at the back of the box
7. Flick on the power switch also at the back of the box
8. Power the box on with the remote.
9. Check your TV settings are set to video output RGB and set to PAL
10. Now machine is on - press menu on the remote
11. Scroll down to the usb option in menu and hit ok,
12. Here you will see the files on the pen drive.
13. Highlight 1.07 firmware file and press ok.
14. Highlight the logo file and press ok.
15. Once the firmware and logo files have loaded onto the box:
16. Go back into menu and highlight installation and choose automatic scan hit ok
17. Choose the provider for the area you are in and Select the correct one and hit ok.
18. The box should now pick up the desired channels.
19. Go into menu and key in 1570 with the remote,
20. This will bring you to the secret menu.
21. Highlight keycode and change it to ON.
22. Now you’re all set to scan
23. Exit out and put your box onto S*y sports channel
24. Wait for it to update. This may take a while.
25. Sit back, grab a beer, and enjoy.

After following the idiots guide and scanning the box is coming up with "no channels found" it won't even give the basic channels. Don't know what is going wrong. Somebody help or give me clue!

Don't know how to change provider unless you mean in the network selection menu and tried that still no joy. The numbers you mention I've not got a clue where to input them or at what part of the menu.

To change your symbol rate you can assign a different provider, i.e. exNT*, C8W or Telepest, during the initial set up or in manual set up. If you give your rough location we can tell you which provider area you are in.
Make sure you scan directly from the incoming feed and that you have it plugged into the cable in RF socket on the back of the box.
Is your incoming feed live, as you said you cannot get the basic FTA channels?I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas AdamsComment

Am in south midlands, cable feed is ok as digi tv finds basic channels. the lead has been put into cable input in the box and not antenna in.Comment

I had a feeling that was the problem, I would look for another partner
Your in an exNTL, (6887), area so scan using them as your provider, following the guide on page 1.I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas AdamsComment

Thanks Satsmo will check this out later tonight when get back from work. Normally I wouldn't mind being thought of as thick but when you already ask someone if the rf is in the correct port and they look at you like an alien piece of slime, then it turns out it wasn't. Makes you want to trade 'em in for a newer model.
