    Should I Be Worried?

Just plugged in my Starview 4 box for the first time, following the instructions. When flicking through the channels, I got to channel 510 & it had a page saying (along the lines of) Warning, you are using an illegal box, You are commiting a criminal offence etc. Should I be worried. I still get my TV from virgin, is there any way they know I am using a "dodgy" box, or does this come up all the time. I've heard stories that they send a signal down the cable & the virgin box is supposed to send back a reply, but I was told if I fit a splitter & run both boxes it will be ok, or are these all just rumours.

ignore it , or delete it.

its b@llocks , there are a few more as well.

seems they are picked up on a different transponder, one that a subbed box dont scan, thats why you get that...

Its a channel put there to scare you. Every box picks it up, it doesn't mean anything, you can ignore it.

I've already warned my wife not to let them in.
Any truth in the splitter story, does it make any difference?

Just dont give it the big un down the pub about what you get for free, someone that dont like you might make a phone call to vm and you may get a knock on the door from them, if that does happen then you just tell them its not convienent at the mo and to come back, this will give you time to remove the sv4 and then you can let them in when they come back.

If you are already paying for a basic tv service from them it would be wise to keep your subbed box in and use a splitter to the sv4, your subbed box has talkback and if you just replace it with the sv4 vm are not seeing any talkback from the subbed one, they may wonder why you are paying for a service and not using it, hence the knock on the door.

Other than that m8 dont worry and enjoy your free viewing.

So if I just get a 2 way splitter, plug the cable in to the IN connection then the 2 out connections to each box, this will still allow the virgin box to talkback?

yes, only if your subed box is turned on, so if its not going to be in use its worth turning it on once in a while.

Can I just leave the two of them switched on & use the SV4, or would the signal not be strong enough to work the 2 boxes?

                      Yeah, no bother.

I have the SV in the living room, and have the VM box upstairs, just split the cable, send one to you Virgin box, and one to your SV.

yeah that shouldnt be a problem provided you get a splitter that does as its told. The signal is usually strong enough to allow you to operate atelast 2-3 boxes and internet at the same time.
