The Box Super usb PVR SV4 - Recording problems

Just a couple of issues with the SV4 that have occured on a regular basis.
    1. Some of the programmes are recording with the audio description on despite it being turned off. Very annoying as it cannot be turned off during playback.
    2. Live pause. Restarting the box after live pause is causing the box to freeze and the only way to restart the box is to switch the box off.
    Anyone else had these issues.
    cheers

I havent had the same issues have you tried a reflash? Which revision are you on at the moment, if it is 1.07, try reverting back to 1.06 and see if it is better, although as you know the firmware is quite buggy either way.

The live pause problem may be HDD related.

      Thanks Satsmo.
I am aware of the firmware having a few bugs. I have 1.07
I just thought I would share the problems in case we had a common bug.

I will try a reflash and see how we go.
I have a memorex 160gb hdd which I bought with the box.
      Thanks

No problem the more bugs that are reported the better. Regards your HDD did you format it via the SV4 HDD menu or did you do it on your PC?

Can you see if it is formatted as NTFS or FAT32?

I have had the pause and record issues that you have mentioned. i have just read the posting regarding plugging and unplugging usb equipment when the box is on. it is recommended that the box is off. i'll just go and see if this is any better when i remove, refit the usb device when off then try a format of the drive again from the menu option

Have reformated the HDD through the menu so I will see how we go.
I presume this will format the drive in Fat32

Apologies I should have said connect it to your PC and see what format it is. The SV4 wont format a HDD above 32GB to FAT32 neither will windows.

Most people use an application called swissknife to format HDDs above 32GB from NTFS to FAT32. I use a similar utility from HP that works just as well, you will find it here HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com. Very easy to use just attach your HDD to your PC, it will find it and then press start.

But as I said check to see if it is not already formatted as FAT32 via your PC. Just right click on it when connected to your PC, click format and you will see if it is either NTFS or FAT32.

Yes it is formated to fat32(checked it on pc). It is only a 160gb hdd anyway.
                    Thanks m8
Will see how we go and let you know if the probs continue.
