Sv4 external harddrive

Hi Guys,

I have a 400g maxtor HD with power source which I currently use with my PC so it has loads of stuff on it I don't want to loose. I was thinking of partitioning say 100g & format it to fat32 (currently the drive is NTSC) & using it to record from the sv4.

Here's the question will this work? Can the sv4 read just the partitioned drive?

I have tried doing this but when I go to menu on the box it wants to format the whole drive.

Any help appreciated & apologies if this has been covered before but I couldn't find it on other threads.

HELLO i have a 500g Maxtor external drive with power supply that i was using for my PC but now i am using it for my SV4 i formated it with the PC to fat 32 so it could work with my sv4 but i had all sorts of problems with programs locking up and not showing so i formated the full drive with the SV4 and it is working great and i have had no problems i think that you will have to either format the full drive for the SV4 or get a dedicated smaller Drive if you do not want to loose the stuff you already have hope this hellps
