i dont no if this wil work try this

        you at your own risk

        1. Switch box on wait for a few seconds until booting has finished.
        2. Press MENU on remote
        3. Press RIGHT ARROW BUTTON once
        4. Press DOWN ARROW BUTTON twice
        5. Press OK BUTTON twice

The box should reboot and the display should come back on.

        or

        you at your own risk

Switch box on wait for a few seconds until booting has finished.
        Press MENU on remote
        Press DOWN ARROW BUTTON once
        Press RIGHT ARROW BUTTON once
        Press DOWN ARROW BUTTON twice
        Press O.K BUTTON twice

It can take 2 or 3 attempts but works.
Basicly it goes through the menu and factory resets even though you cant see it on the screen.

        you at your own risk

        i hope it works ?

it appears the problem is a small burn out on the motherboard, thanks for all your suggestions.

been told from the starview team they think its the eeprom as the older boxes have a smaller one.
