    Starview PVR wont boot.

Hello all, my Starview PVR just started this peculiar problem.

I have not updated the firmware and was still using firmware from Oct 07 (I think).

I have been manually inputting keys since the last blackout.

Brought the unit out of standby the other day and all I get now is "ON" followed by a never ending circular scrolling of Green dashes.

Any help / advice / suggestions, would be very much appreciated,

    Regards,
    The Soulman.

This has happened to few folks PVR, it's probably a power supply related problem / over heating problem.
I know a guy is working on a solution over on another forum, I'll keep you posted if I find any more info out.

"I just found some notes from the back end of 2007 where a similar problem was explained to me. It started with the PVR switching off/on after a while. It then progressed to just displaying 'ON'.

My hunch was a power supply problem and sure enough there were low voltages coming from the supply. The final nail came when part of the power supply went pop (power transistor or regulator).

I thought that PVR got binned as it was replaced under warranty, but that may not be the case. If I can get hold of it again I'll try to fix the power supply and report back, but it may not be for a week or so. "

        Taken from the other forum.
