    from another site :-

The starview team are doing nothing but scamming you all.

    In the last few months:-

    1. They reduced peoples subs allowance by a month - few were told crap such as "If you renew you may get your month back" from selected "dealer" (on the payroll?)

    2. The bricked loads of boxes and blame it on "unsupported" hardware - total bullshiit.

    3. They block the serial numbers of loads more boxes abd blame it on "virgin media blocking them". More bullshit.

How long are you going to stand for this for - it's clear they are doing this intentional to make you part with your money - in there direction. I do remember rumours along time ago they had loads of stock - I guess this is there plan to shift them faster. Sitting stock is dead money. Even the EuroView is an old box that they were just launching previously before they were raided. More dead stock they are trying to shift.

They don't give a crap about end users - once you have parted with your ??? then there only interest is how to part with more ???.

Be warned - expect more "problems" to develop those who's boxes are still working.

If your box has been blocked/bricked - demand a refund from your dealer - maybe we should name/shame those who refuse to help. i think this be long here

Most dealers sell these as FTA boxes and state that flashing patched firmware invalidates the warranty. Certainly damage caused by patched firmware whether a bomb or a bug isn't covered by warranty

it is not a problem selling a fta box we all buy and update them but it is the starview team with the dodgy sub business people are paying and getting chucked off with.

And of course you would have that opinion, after all you sell these boxes, and also moderate on the forum, now are you on the customers side or who. ?

This seems a bit of a con when most 'dealers' actually give out links to the patched firmware and encourage their customers to use it. The dealers must bare some of the responsibility for the problem and should at least be bringing pressure on the server operators to play fair. Simply hiding behind a non-existant warranty is just not on !

Hmmm, so this is what the "Starview" business model has come to? I gave up commenting on SV a long time ago.

I would love to do the "told you so" thing and say look at the sticky above, but I actual welcome these threads as a warning to others thinking of purchasing from these "traders" !

I don't moderate on their forum. I do sell several different boxes including starview but I am not associated with them (or Kryptview or any other "team")

I would always expect the server operators and coders to play fair, I don't buy anything from the Starview or Kryptview "Team" direct so have no influence. I can't speak for other dealers, I have, so far, replaced all boxes that have been zapped within the guarantee period despite specifically excluding damage caused by corrupt or bad patched firmware.

Personally I believe this is a bug rather than a timebomb, unlike the timebomb in Gemini DM500 images which was a deliberate attack.

Good to hear that your doing this even though it isn't specifically your problem

Unfortunately the evidence doesn't really support that and the posted excuses (VM blocking etc) are so ludicrous as to cause me physical harm due to an extended bout of laughing !

So far, evidence really does point to a timebomb. I'd expect this to of been inserted on the instructions of the box manufacturers simply as a cynical attempt to stimulate sales of newer boxes. I imagine the UK dealers (incl Mr Kiddie et al) were not consulted on this so are probably as much in the dark as anybody else. Really quite a shocking state of affairs and i'd suggest the dealers show their displeasure at this development by whatever means possible.
