    Is starview 7 Jtaggable?

Does anyone know jtag points on the SV7 as would be willing to jtag another working box & see if it can be dumped to red light box? It has a 20 pin jumper so pretty sure it is possible. Or if this is eeprom chip blown what chip is this on board as this again could be replaced? I have 1 working box 106 & 1 non working 101.

dot know but the chip may be told to shut down with the firmware, dont know if a box to box transfer would work, all you would have in the end result would be a fta box.

Cheers, just would be interested if it was possible as seems to go when turned off so if left on could possibly be revived? And if theyre saying it blows an eeprom would be able to change this for a version compatable with new software? No-one seems to know board layout/chips involved tho

have you not been reading the starview threads at the bigger picture,it was the firmware that killed them in the first place,so then no you cannot fix it.

I have been reading around but seems strange that the new firmware worked for a good week - 10 days? Or was it set to do this in code as a sort of timebomb as some have said? Just be interested to see if jtag from good box transferred to new would give it lease of life 4 the 7-10 days again(or when switched off) to prove. Used to play about programming attie chips on the old paces so suppose wanted a dabble again

Love the video - might just come to that

First off you cant jtag a box without a loader to load it, secondly the code sent to the eeprom has shafted the chip and only Sv can make a fix for it, "Which" they are defo not going to do, they want to sell more boxes not subs.

Box to box transfer does not work I've tried it.

Also if you did get a dead box alive you need to install V3 firmware which will kill your box again anyway.

Best place for the starview box is in the bin.

But if its true that the eeprom has been "blown" or disabled the main loader chip will still be there so possibly removal/reprogramming of eeprom would be way forward? Also is it possible a dump of the 3.00 software will contain the "timebomb" that is supposed to have been implemented? I'm no coder but there are plenty around, is it a part of code easy to spot in a dump? As said wouldnt mind a little dabbe to see if this was possible. I noticed a 48pin TSOP which in Pace boxes contained the loader etc.. do you think this is same on Starview 7? Boxes must have ID's similar to BK/IRD on cable do you not think as it seems the 101/102 boxes are the only ones hit.

other numbers hit as posted here.

if you could use the previous firmware and if it works then you will have a fta box,you also would need the previous firmware on donor box.no idea if it works.

If you did a full flash of an older image (probably require flash to be removed and programmed) then it should work as fta. Its very doubtful that they have physically harmed and hardware.

Upgrading firmware would then, of course, just re-brick the box.

i wonder if in the new firmware the box to box transfer option as been nobbled so it dont work it would be interesting to find out if a down graded box could do a box to box transfer to a dead one
