    was told by a good sorce it is not the eeprom chip but the loader chip which is the cause.

      You mean bootloader and you shouldn't listen to "good sources" when they are bad sources.

        Hello, do you have any information, from your sources or otherwise, as to what is actually wrong with the non-booting ones and whether they can be rectified?
