Newbie, Advice Needed

Am newbie to all this cable stuff but have had some great info from this site everyone keep up the good work. Anyway this may be a silly question if so am sorry but I have the Star View 4 box flashed it using info off site brill. All working fine I think but how do I connect up this to virgin media. i.e. do I have a splitter and have both boxes connected at the same time so that if virgin want to talk to the box its connected and omline or just have the star view one connected etc.

Again sorry if poor question I did try and search and fine info but couldn't.
